Funeral of Eilidh Macleod takes place in BarraThe family and friends of Eilidh Macleod who was killed in the Manchester Arena terror attack have gathered for her funeral on a remote Scottish island.Her father, Roddy MacLeod, led a funeral procession as it passed Kimsul Castle, on the way to the Church of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, on Barra.Eilidh, 14, was among the 22 people who died after Salman Abedi detonated a bomb at Manchester Arena on Monday, May 22.Her friend, Laura MacIntyre, a fellow pupil at Castlebay Community School on the island, was seriously injured in the bombing at Manchester Arena and remains in hospital.Eilidh's funeral at the Church of Our Lady, Star of the Sea, in Castlebay on the island of Barra (Photo: PA)The funeral is being held at the Church of Our Lady with 1,000 people expected to attend, while the mass is also being relayed to mourners in nearby Castlebay Hall.Parish priest Father John Paul MacKinnon said the community had come together as “one big family”.He was expected to tell mourners that Eilidh “packed a lot into her 14 happy years”.“That’s so important for us to remember today - Eilidh was a happy girl, she had 14 happy years and in the last few days of her life she was the happiest you could ever imagine,” he said.

The 20-year-old man voluntarily presented at North Manchester Police Station tonight, Wednesday 7 June 2017. He was arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to the Terrorism Act and remains in custody.As it stands 21 people have now been arrested in connection with this investigation, of which twelve people have been released without charge. A total of nine individuals remain in custody.

I'm not saying we should ban news or stop sharing views but let's not overload ourselves with it. There's a lot of good going on, problems being solved, people doing great work. Maybe I'm being naive but I do think we should try and enrich our lives with more optimistic, productive information rather than despair.
